| Chess is a game for everyone! |
Chess is one of the oldest
board games still in existence. The game, as we know it today, was being played
in 550 A.D. There is even some evidence that a very similar game was in
existence 2000 years before then! For a game to be around that long there must
be some things very special about it. And, there are.
Chess offers everything to its players that a game should. It is inexpensive, easy to learn, challenging to play, can be played anywhere, is played everywhere around the world – and every game is completely different from the last one.
There are 390 billion possible move in the first three moves, and after that the number of possible moves get very large! Like I said, no two games are ever the same!
The chess set – while standard in its content – can be completely different in size, shape, material and even appearance. You can go as inexpensive and standard or as expensive and decorative as you want to go! But the standard official tournament ready chess set can be purchased for the price of a movie ticket, and the chess set will still be there long after the movie is in re-runs.
Chess is just like any other game. To become really good, you have to study and practice. That is the challenge. You can become as good as you want to be, if you want to put in the time.
But the main idea is to have fun and enjoy the world’s best game…….chess!

“Chess is a great game. No matter
how good you are, there is always someone better. And no matter how bad you
are, there is always someone worse.”
- T. A. Horowitz
